About this piece
In the heart of Mexico City, Emiliano Zapata stands resolute — sombrero wide, pistol at his side, the posture of a man who did not bend. El Hombre. THE MAN. Revolutionary, agrarian hero, symbol of a people's fight for land and dignity. His presence is quiet but undeniable, a human echo against the city's restless rhythm.
I built the background layer by layer, pulling paint and textures on a gel plate until the surface carried its own rhythm. Onto that, I transferred my photograph by hand, lifted imperfectly, pressed into place. The process blurs edges and softens detail, leaving behind both the ghost of the photograph and the grit of the paint.
