About this piece
This isn't a straight photograph — it's a transfer of memory, pulled through paint, paper, and plate. I started with a photo I took on the coast of Vietnam. I printed it, then built backgrounds with layers of paint pulled on a gel plate — marks that are half-intentional, half-accidental.
The photograph is transferred by hand onto those layers, lifted imperfectly, pressed into place. No two transfers land the same way. What remains carries the ghost of the photograph and the grit of the process.
